Finishing Touches

Announcing our new BlogRoll - and, just in case you ask, this has nothing to do with toilet paper! Put simply, a blogroll is just a list of links to other websites or web pages which you can put on your blog.You can see it below under 'Some Websites to Explore'.

Using the design feature on the Blogger dashboard I added the Link List gadget at the foot of the page (actually I did this twice to create a 2-column effect) and then added links to some relevant websites, e.g. North Lanarkshire's 'Login to Learn' site, The Big Plus site, Get Safe Online, etc.

Just a wee finishing touch. Hope you like it!

All Change!

If you have visited this blog before you will notice that it has now undergone an extreme makeover. The most obvious change is that, where it was once a warm, rich, tan colour, it is now fresh, clean, blue and white. And, yes, a wee change of font as well. All thanks to a change of Template, a bit of a play with Backgrounds and other features accessed from the Template Design link. Not saying this will be the final version of the blog, but it will do for the moment.

But these are not the only changes: I have now added Labels to each post, set up the Gadgets I want (and shuffled them around a bit) - more of this below - and added a couple of Pages to the blog. You will see them above under 'About this Blog' and 'China Penguin?'

It came from Outer Space

In truth, it came from an unspecified location in Central Scotland. But since I live in Bonnybridge, the UFO Capital of Scotland, I'm not ruling out the possibility of some alien intervention - unlikely as that seems.

'It' on this occasion was a comment (in fact, two comments) on my blog. The comments weren't intended for publication but, nevertheless as a consequence. my weekly exploration of all things Blogger has taken a back seat for another few days. As the man said, "I'll be back!"

Atlantic Crossing

Flushed with the success of yesterday's learning session I've now started to think about what areas we will cover next Thursday. This has involved a few minor changes to this blog (not that anyone might notice in passing) and some ideas as to where we might go next.

The steps I took this afternoon involved editing my profile information (including the addition of a profile picture), correcting my timezone from Pacific Time to GMT and a wee reshuffle of the contents on the right-hand side of this page.

Next week, as well as looking at the Edit User Profile page, it's likely that we will look at the Settings and Design options in a bit more detail. Settings will give us the chance to look at Permissions & Privacy, Date & Time Formatting, Moderating Comments, etc. while Design will let us do a little more with Templates, Labels and the numerous Gadgets that are out there. I've resisted the temptation to do much more with the layout of this blog just now as I want to keep pace with the learning process taking place elsewhere.
